Orange County Choppers Lets Rock & Ride

This concert is proving to be a very exciting, chock filled, inaugural event. It will be the first appearance of West, Bruce Jr. & Laing who are playing a limited, perhaps this time only tour.

The tracks I heard that Leslie West brought Howard Stern to play today were totally cool. Its been awhile since Leslie West has been on The Howard Stern Show and it was refreshing to hear him with Howard. Politician by Cream sounded soooooo good, Malcolm Bruce jr.’s voice is very reminiscent of his father, Jack Bruce. I got chills when I heard Malcolm sing.

I have long been a fan of West, Bruce and Laing. Mountain is just a fantastic group. The new Mountain Web site is way cool (the old site is still coming up in Google searches for Mountain, http://www.mountaintheband.com/)

Lots of energy around this concert, check out this article from American Towns, Ridgefield, CT to learn more about the contests being held that night. I would love to win the Leslie West signed Dean Guitarhttp://www.americantowns.com/ct/ridgefield/news/west-bruce-and-laing-along-with-fred-norris-and-his-band-king-norris-233382

Keith Emerson and Greg Lake, Ridgefield Playhouse, Sat. May 8, 2010

Totally psyched to be attending the AllShows.com V.I.P. Party before the concert for this event!

Keith Emerson & Greg Lake Of Emerson Lake and Palmer: An initimate evening of “The Nice”, “King Crimson” and “ELP”, Music and Story Telling

The innovators of the progressive rock era, Keith Emerson and Greg Lake welcome you into the inner circle with an intimate evening of performing classic songs, telling stories and interacting with the audience!

I have seen the Carl Palmer Band and the Keith Emerson band at Toads Place in New Haven  on previous occassions, but never Keith & Greg together, ;)

David Hidalgo & Louie Perez, American Songbook, Lincoln Center

David Hidalgo & Louie Perez of Los Lobos:
An Evening of Storytelling and Songs

I was excited to discover through an e-mail from Los Lobos, that David Hidalgo and Louie Perez will be performing at Lincoln Center in New York City  next week, on January 15th at 8:30 p.m. We’re delighted good seats were available and that we can attend!!!

David and Louie have a new recording, The Long Goodbye

Its available for purchase via digital download from their player at the top of this page. I’m liking what I’m hearing and how Web savvy these guys are ;)

It’s also a chance for us to ask questions about the music and the men who created it and to go home with The Early Songs, a companion CD of never-before-released early collaborations plus some previously unheard versions of songs you’ll know. Psyche!

Louie Perez, from the legendary California band Los Lobos, discusses the unique songwriting process he and his fellow band member David Hidalgo have created throughout their 40 years of writing songs together. Listen to the Podcast here.

Jazz-Rock Fusion, Westport Arts Center, Pequot Library, Southport, Ct.

The Westport Arts Center in conjunction with Brian Torff, Jazz Artistic Director are presenting a wonderful series of informative Jazz events that I felt compelled to share with you. If you have a strong interest in Jazz history, its music and related discussion, Westport Arts Center is THE place to learn more about Jazz in Southern Connecticut.

First is the brilliant exhibit of Milt Hinton photographs which has been extended until February 28th, the pictures are so inspiring.  The Judge: Jazz Photographs by Musician Milt Hinton.

I just can’t get enough of this photograph :)

Next is the film screening on Sunday January 11th of Keeping Time, which is the companion film to Milt Hinton’s exhibition.

The third event on May 2, 2010 features Brian Torff and a seven piece band, the Westport Horns, which will debut as a repertory jazz ensemble for the Westport Arts Center. Musical selections will include mixtures of jazz with funk, blues, zydeco, reggae and other world music styles. During the concert musicians will talk about the influence of Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Chicago, Tower of Power and other important bands of the late 1960’s and early 70’s. This event will be held at the Southport, CT Pequot Library.

The Westport Arts Center is also planning two more jazz events that are supposed to be equally if not more special. I can’t wait to learn what and when they are!

We’re also adding two additional jazz programs so stay tuned for a winter devoted to jazz history, art, and music.
